Our 2018 – 2019 Results Are Here!!!
In the 2018-2019 school year, we supported 1,255 students in 34 schools. Our volunteers supported students in 31 schools in both semesters, up from 21 schools last year. Our post-test results revealed an average gain of 324 words which represents an average of just over three grade levels of growth. Pre-tests results showed only 20% of our students were reading on sight word grade level. Our post-test results demonstrated a 247% increase in the number of second graders reading on sight word grade level in the thirty-one schools tested.
The students at the other three schools were started in the second semester. These students had an average gain of 293 words, nearly three grade levels of growth. Only 7% of these students were reading on sight word grade level at pre-test, however, post-test results revealed 52% of the students our volunteers supported were on sight word grade level, a 633% increase in the number of second graders reading on sight word grade level in these three schools.
